PRACTICAL INFORMATION

THE FESTIVAL ARENA

The festival will be at Kalvøya, an island close to Sandvika, 15 minutes outside Oslo.

ACCOMANDATION AND LOCAL TRANSPORT

All participants will stay in groups at schools in the area. The festival pass works as a ticket on regular buses from the different schools to the bus station in Sandvika.
Kalvøya, the location for the festival, is a 15-minute walk from the bus station.

FOOD

Meals are included in the festival ticket. Breakfast and supper are served at the schools. Feel free to make your own packed lunch at breakfast. Dinner is served at the festival area. There will be various kiosks and cafes at the festival where you can buy mineral water, pastries, pizza, hot dogs, popcorn, candy floss and ice cream.

ACTIVITIES

The festival offers concerts, seminars, sports activities and games, and you can choose what you want to attend. The point is that you should be yourself and do what you like.

The festival arena, called ”Spekterparken” is divided into different areas with different themes. Areas include the Local Theater, Jalla Jalla (different games), Do It Yourself (DIY), Tonorama (music), Scouts universe, Ten Sing area, Sports, Civic Engagement and the Church. Each area will offer drop-in activities and seminars.

There will be several Ten Sing performances and Ten Sing related activities. One of the days of the festival will be especially dedicated to the celebration of the 50th anniversary, with appearances from former and current Ten Singers.

You will be able to register for some of the seminars through our website in spring 2018. However, most of the activities will not require registration – you show up at the start of the seminar.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can we bring our own food to the festival area?
Yes, you are allowed to bring your own food to the festival area.

My Ten Sing group wants to have concert on SPEKTER, where do we register?
You can find the registration for Ten Sing concerts on this page.

Where can I get water?
There are several water stations on the island. Remember to bring your own bottle.

What do I do if I have allergies or other dietary requirements?
It is very important that you inform us about your allergies or other dietary requirements. We will then make sure you are offered food accordingly.

Can I stay in the same place as my friends?
Groups that register together will be put in the same schools and in the same room. Girls will sleep in all-girl dormitories, and boys in all-boy dorms.

I am in a wheelchair, can I join SPEKTER?
Yes, of course! The island is flat, with gravel roads and grass. There are handicap toilets on Kalvøya.

How do I register for the seminars and activities?
You can register for some of the seminars before the festival. You will find registration forms on this website in the months leading up to the festival. To join the rest of the seminars you show up when the activities begin. Some seminars will be drop-in activities that you can join at any time during the opening hours of “Spekterparken”.

Can my group bring a tent to Kalvøya?
Yes, your group can bring a tent. This could be a perfect place for your group to meet during the day.

Will there be lifeguards on the beach?
Yes, there will hosts and health personnel at the festival beach during its opening hours. Swimming outside the festival area will be without lifeguards, and will take place at your own risk.

At what time will Kalvøya be open?
The festival area at Kalvøya will be open from 10:00am to 11:00pm every day. The part of the island called “Spekterparken” will close at 7:00pm. From 8:00pm to 11:00pm there will be a garden party for young adults and volunteers most nights.
